Description
Unique IDA-00293195SeriesLetters Received, 1843-1899 [Municipal Council of Sydney]DateBetween 10th April 1861 and 18th April 1861Date qualifierexactFormatVolume - HardcoverDescriptionLetter from John R Linsley, Lessee of Haymarket, to the Mayor complaining about the state of the Hay Corn and Cattle Market: wet after rain, many complaints and not fit for use. P.S. When I purchased the tolls and dues for this market, I expected Bye Laws to be followed, first person to object and refuse to pay Market Dues is an alderman and councillor of Sydney. Green fodder does not come through the market, hawkers take it around. Others also follow, and I request power to demand that articles in Bye Laws are not hawked without first paying. Mr Martyn, auctioneer, has taken his sale elsewhere due to state of the yard. Notes: Imp Comm; £15 be laid out immediately; Council cannot interfere, he has the bye laws to go by.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYesBorn digital itemNo
