As a resident and landlord here, a grievance from tenants and family suffered for some months past. The sweepings of Oxford St are left in the gutter and slime and filth run down to opposite my places. This affects the health of the neighbourhood. Suggest sweeping should continue right down Brisbane St to the gully at Goulburn & Brisbane Sts. Notes: WM: TC to acknowledge and ask proper officer to abate this nuisance. Insp of Nuisances. RS: this has been action of employees of the Tram Dept. Called their attention to this, and one of their employees has been summonsed and fined at the Police Court. To obviate the evil, 3 gully shafts put in centre of Tramway. At: Riley & Oxford; between Riley and Brisbane, and one nearly opposite Brisbane St. These are connected to the public sewers.
