Clerk of Markets, Belmore Markets to Town Clerk reporting he has suspended Adolphus Henry Goodwin for drinking and inciting a prisoner to resist the police. Note from Town Clerk saying he has had many cautions and while a good employee when sober he recommends his dismissal and that labourer George Butt no. 114 be placed at the market in his place. Note. Approved. Attached. Two letters from Mr Goodwin asking the Council to obtain the Police Report which would exonerate him and a second explaining circumstances of his suspension. Note. Town Clerk after reading Police Reports declines to reopen case. Police Reports of incident of Senior Constable Alexander Murdoch and Henry R. Hoffman Constable, attached. Further Report by James Bell, Sub-Inspector that he has ascertained that Mr Goodwin had assisted the Police on several previous occasions. Note.
