Unique IDAG-0091DescriptionThis Department was responsible for the control and regulation of Council's assets and properties, including the produce markets, the baths, the rental of Council properties, maintenance of Council's machinery and plant, and supervision and management of the Town Hall Buildings other than the Sydney Town Hall.
It was created as a result of a recommendation of the Finance Committee in 1950. From 1947 to 1950, the function had been administered by the Properties Branch of CA 40, Town Clerk's Department.
On 29 June 1970, Council resolved to replace CA 40, Town Clerk's Department with CA 3, Administration Department. Part of this reorganisation entailed CA 91, Properties Department, CA 82, Libraries Department and CA 89, Audit Department II, becoming branches of the new Administration Department (CA 3). However, the Properties Department did not cease to become a Department until 8 March 1971 when Council approved an establishment for the Administration Department.CreationResolution of Council 18 September 1950AbolitionResolution of Council 8 March 1971
