There is horse manure in the middle of the laneway and the chimneys of the houses in front are visible above the roofline. The photograph was taken on Friday 25 May 1917. In the 1990s, buildings and streets here were obliterated to make way for the Eastern Distributor. A photograph was taken of the house in front, at 170-172 Palmer Street Darlinghurst.
