The three storey building was in the middle of being demolished to make way for an extension to Bebarfalds department store. Two workmen are visible above the blocked parapet. Canvas shades hanging from the awning protect the west-facing shopfronts from the sun. The second level has three arched portico windows, and there are demolition materials on the wrought iron balcony. A group of men in suits and boys in boater hats are outside the shopfront of William Kerr, jeweller and watchmaker at 542 George Street.
