The buildings were being demolished to make way for a warehouse. Horses and drays are parked outside the McCombe Steam Vulcanising Works, which is partially demolished. The Mauri Bros & Thomson warehouse was short-lived, demolished for the David Jones Market Street store, built in circa 1936-37.
