There are various painted signs on the roof and facade including: 'Merchant Importer', 'Grocery & Provisions, 'Tea Blenders' and 'The largest grocers in the state'. Plans were drawn up in 1911 to replace Ashwood's Railway Square store with a new building. The merchants and importers went out of business by 1913.
