The small single-storey house to the left was 277 Palmer Street. There is a sign for ‘Palmer Place’ fixed to the side wall of the building opposite, at 275 Palmer Street. This laneway was also known as James Street, and is now in a similar location to Foley Lane. Auction notices pasted on the buildings are dated Wednesday 12 June and Thursday 20 June. There are children playing on the street, a woman pedestrian, a man with horse and cart and a gas lamp post. Thomas Mackie complained about the state of the toilet at number 277 in 1911.
