Appended: Letter from Thomas J Bown & Co, Bathurst St, opposite St Andrew's Cathedral, presenting outstanding accounts for the City Architect's and City Surveyor's Departments, forwarding some written orders but noting that the orders by the City Surveyor's Department were made verbally by Mr Goldie and regretting that the accounts had not previously been submitted because of the "gross neglect of one of Mr Bown's sons"; Memo from Samuel Solomon, Examiner of Accounts Office, reporting on which amounts could be substantiated and his knowledge of the history of the commercial relationship of Bown & Co and the Council; Memo from Richd W Richards, City Surveyor, noting only 4 requisitions found; Memo from City Architect, noting repeated failures of Bown & Co to send accounts; Memo on reverse of paper slip or portion of envelope from Special Report Branch, Merchants and Traders Association, Central Chambers, 173 Pitt St apparently addressed to JT Bown & Co: March 31/90 £7510 Thos Jarvis and April 11/90 £6567 G Pike; Memo by E Copp, Licensed plumber employed by Corporation, vouching for portion of accounts.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
