The Committee considered three modes of removal: 1. cartage by punt to a portion of Webb's grant near Botany Bay and Cooks River; 2. cartage by a road to be formed to the south head of Bondi Point to be discharged by chute into the sea; 3. collection at a suitable wharf, conveyance by two punts to outside the Heads and then discharge into the sea. The Committee recommends the third option. Appended: Memo from Chas H Woolcott, Town Clerk, with Council resolution to refer the matter to the Committee; Joint Memos and reports (May and August 1875) from Thomas H Bradridge, City Surveyor, Francis Bell, City Engineer, GF Dansey, City Health Officer and Richard Seymour, Inspector of Nuisances, reporting on the options; Memo (August 1874) from Francis Bell, City Engineer, referring to earlier memos in 1871 & 1872 and finding no reason to change his earlier recommendations; Memo from Thomas H Bradridge, City Surveyor, in January 1876, with estimate for forming, ballasting and metalling a roadway from Bondi Road to the south head of Bondi Bay and the construction of a shoot from the top of the cliff; Printed report, 4 October 1875, by the Committee appointed by the Sydney City and Suburban Sewage and Health Board, Chairman MB Pell, on a suitable locality for the deposit of night-soil recommending the use of Webb's grant, 300 acres, at the southern side of the mouth of Cooks River.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
