Mr Birkett writes requests a lease of all or part of the sand hills at the southern end of Riley St for 1 year to experiment chemically to make them fertile for growing (with some assistance at the beginning) - this request not to be confused with his proposal, via Bill Hibbard who stated he was acting as Birkett's agent in the matter of £300 re purchasing the Bega allotment.
