Action by Capt D C F Scott against the Mayor has been settled, while preparing this, refer to Mr Obed West of Barcom Glen who has sustained considerable damage by deposit of filth and sewage from the Corporation drains, and has been advised he has a good cause of action, not pressed at present. I advise he could recover heavy damages and [City] could abate same by laying a sewer through his premises to Rushcutters Bay, no doubt he would assent to same. Advise in action of Mrs Hughes v Mayor a verdict with Plaintiff's damages of one farthing, she can commence an action for every day that a nuisance continues, I urge Council to have a sewer laid down.
