(Note: 19/9/88 Town Clerk and Mr Seymour: JH. 20/9/88 Ack. 20/9 88 Received: RS. With reference to the suggestions contained in the Honorable John McIntosh's letter as to the advisability of uniformity in the size of receptacles of house refuse placed upon the kerbstones for removal instead of the miscellaneous sizes and description of boxes kegs etc. now in use. I have the honor to inform Your Worship I quite agree with Mr McIntosh as to the desirability of uniformity but think that metallic boxes are preferable to cane baskets inasmuch as the latter are liable to be burnt in the event of hot ashes being placed in them.
