Inspected premises in Hay St known as Corporation Stores, Manager Mr H Bennett. 1. occupied by City Produce Coy as Hay Corn and general produce Store. Roof very bad, gutters defective, allowing water to enter building a destroy goods below. 2. on Wed 12 inst. a fire occurred at western end where a large quantitiy of Hay and Straw were stored. Wall damaged, to take it down and rebuild from the base course. 2 bays of roof damaged, and portion of verandah, floor will need to considerable repairs. Estimate repairs at £200. Walls of stone; floor, timber, rotten and dilapidated, overrun with rats. Remedy is to lay a concrete floor. Verandah also out of repair. Estimate £500 to put buildings in a proper state of repair.
