Lutton, Market Inspector advising two boiler flues are blocked and need cleaning and the woodwork and sashes in the Engine Room need painting which could commence immediately as the overhaul of the engine is almost complete. Note. T. Lutton, Market Inspector that flues previously cleaned by outside labourer but recommending Engineer Pike do in his own time at the rate of 10/- per boiler. Minute Paper, City Architect's Office that cleaning of flue is necessary and a dirty job for which the firemen get paid a bit extra. However the timber is not perished but could be painted when the iron grilles are finished. The Engineers should paint the engine.
