CA 186, Planning and Development Committee, 1999+ is assigned to deal with all matters pertaining to a) development applications, not dealt with by the Central Sydney Planning Committee; b) Planning Instruments ie LEPs, DCPs, Policies; c) Transport initiatives and issues; d) Parking policy; e) Traffic and Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee; f) Referrals from other authorities for comment on any of the above matters; g) Grants and sponsorships; and h) All applications for footway usage approvals.

The agenda papers are prepared by CA 106, Legal and Secretariat Services, 1993+ and composed of papers distributed to members of the Committee prior to each meeting. The cover of the agenda papers, which may be received in several volumes, include name of the Committee, the date of the meeting and the volume numbers of the agenda papers. A table of contents of the subjects to be discussed in the scheduled meeting is found immediately after the cover. Usually, two copies of the agenda papers are received by the Archives but in some cases, only one set is received, and in some occasions, no copies are received by archives at all. Some agenda papers which are treated as confidential are not sent to the archives for permanent safekeeping.

This series is not a record of the discussions of each Committee meeting but a record of the subject and correspondence discussed, including development applications not dealt with by the Central Sydney Planning Committee. Under this set-up, the committee does not make recommendation on the subject discussed in the meeting. The result of the discussion of the Committee are found in CRS 7, Minutes of Council, 1842+

Agenda Papers are archived the year of the meetings. However, confidential papers, coloured copies and large attachments to the Agenda Papers are later added to the Series - sometimes 4 to 5 years after the meetings have been held. Even though there are usually two sets of Agenda Papers originally archived, only one set of attachments are later archived.
