Appended: Letter from Garvan stating that he had been suspended by the Mayor for being absent for one day without leave in December 1866, that a motion in Council to reinstate him in January 1867 had been negatived, that he had received no notice as to whether he was suspended or dismissed and asking that he be informed of his status and tendering his resignation if he had not been dismissed.
