Petition from John White, late superintendent of the wharf at Soldiers Point, for whatever situation the Council might be kindly pleased to appoint him to, giving consideration to his former services and to the fact that, during his period of employment by the City Corporation, he collected and paid to the City Treasurer about the sum of £143 and received by way of salary, over a period of nearly 11 months, the sum of £52.10, thereby creating a saving to the Corporation of upwards of £90 and that, through his exertions, a fraud was detected in the delivery of Street Metal whereby the Contractor had to refund to Government the sum of £700.
