The Committee accepted the statement of events made by J & S Bayliss and described Peter Hanslow's actions as "vexatious and unnecessary". Appended: Petition by Messrs Joseph & Samuel Bayliss stating that the drain had been installed privately to prevent overflow into neighbouring premises after threats of legal action; the City Commissioners had given permission to the Baylisses to make an underground drain at their own cost as there was no City sewer available; when Peter Hanslow had paving laid outside his premises the drain was stopped; Annotation by WH Baron, City Surveyor.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
