Appended: Memo from Chas H Woolcott, Town Clerk, with Council resolution to refer the matter to the Committee; Petition from inhabitants requesting lowering of levels of kerbing etc in Campbell St from Elizabeth St to Pitt St which unaltered will allegedly cause damage to premises in rainy weather by directing water into the houses and yards of Madeira Place which is a right of way to houses of Elizabeth St and Castlereagh Sts: signatories: Wm Hy Phibbs; Francis Graham; Robert Gilchrist; Robert M Guillan; George Upton; annotation by WH Baron, City Surveyor, suggesting level of Madeira Place (a lane) be raised and then be drained at inhabitants' cost to the sewer running under Elizabeth & Campbell Sts from Market Lane; annotation by Edward Bell, City Engineer, suggesting various drains at householders' cost; Petition (second) by Wm H Phibbs, freeholder; Francis Graham; Robert Gilchrist; George Upton; Mich Farrell; Robt W Guillan, Elizabeth St south; Peter Smithwick, M.D.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
