W G Henfrey. Asking for consideration regarding his water rates. Some water was wasted due to circumstances over which he had no control. There is a note that he is to pay half the amount of the water wasted in addition to the average monthly rate. With this letter is an earlier letter dated 5 September 1866, Number 787, where he says that the problem arose from a pipe which had burst at the bottom of his yard, and he asks that the charge for April be made the same as May or June. He mentions that Mr Clayton and Mr 'Hallom' (Allum?) would vertify it. There is a long note by Edward Bell, City Engineer that gives the water consumption as: 336,000 gallons in April; 24,000 gallons in May; and 19,000 in June. LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
