Thomas White, Surry Hills. He is the landlord of premises in Maiden Lane. Half the lane has undergone thorough repairs and the other half, directly opposite and around his premises has been left undone, and is now almost impassible, with a stench from want of proper drains. He has found it impossible to let the house. There is a note by Edward Bell, City Engineer that this part of the road was not repaired "because the fences were not back to the proper width". Mr Bennet had set back his fence on the southern end. Mr White is on the adjoioning property, and if he sets back his fence, Bell believes that his neighbours will do so as well and then the work can proceed.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
