Months ago a petition was presented praying that a sewer be laid down Swan Street. No steps have been taken to construct it and "the stench from the privies and want of good drainage at the west end of Swan St, is dangerous to the health of the residents in that part of the street". The Horderns and Mr Brush and Mrs Bennie offer to pay half the cost of constructing the sewer. There is a plan of the street showing Mrs Binnie's and Mr Brush's land and the proposed pipe to the sewer in George Street. There is a note by Edward Bell, City Engineer that the cost would be no more than £48. There is a note that it is declined.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
