I have the honor to report, with reference to the within, that on Mr Hardman's representation last summer the filling in of the ground with street sweepings and rubbish was discontinued - But this place has been the receptacle for all the filth and dead animals round about the neighbourhood and hundreds of private carts have been in the habit of shooting their contents at this place - From the time of discontinuing the Corporation carts until about four months ago not a load of street sweepings or rubbish has been cast there. On my explaining to Mr Hardman that it would be far better to have the holes filled up at once, as they were being used for the purpose of drowning dogs, cats, etc. he agreed to the sweepings and rubbish being deposited there on the condition that I left a man (Foster) there to look after it - This I did and the work has been proceeded with until yesterday, when on receipt of this letter I discontinued the practice at once: RS; 18/5/75. 18/5/75 reply: CHW)LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
