(Note: With reference to the Colonial Secretary's letter of 22d Ulto, herewith returned, I have the honor to state that in 1875 a recommendation was made to the Sewage and Health Board that all cesspits should be furnished with a pan similar to the one alluded to in the rider attached to the verdict - This recommendation was adopted by the Board, but nothing that I am aware of has been done to carry it out, further than what I have been able to effect myself on the occasions of persons applying to construct new cesspits. On these applications being made in my office, the applicants are directed to place a pan in the seat in accordance with the plan hanging up exhibited in my office - A by-law might be passed by which the recommendation of the Coroner's Jury can be carried into effect, but until such law is passed I am unable to do anything further than I have above stated : RS; 1/4/78)LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
