Mitchell and others, ratepayers and residents of Cook Ward. They want the Council to remedy the nuisance of the large pool of water on some vacant land facing Smith and Beaufort Streets Surry Hills, 'which has existed for several months, and in rainy weather is several feet deep, in which a number of dead animals have been thrown, and "the smell arising from such animals and the stagnant water is most offensive". There is a report by Richard Seymour, the Inspector of Nuisances, that on 11th April a summons was served on Michael McGrath, and four dead pups and two cats were removed in the scavenger's cart; and on the 13th the waterhole was connected with the public sewer in the lane off Ann Street.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYesBorn digital itemNo
