J Stuart, Enmore Road Marrickville. Recommends using coal tar in the making of foot paths in Sydney. He has used it himself at his cottages at 83 and 85 Clarence Street, and in his garden at Balmain. He also recommends the planting of Eucalyptus globulus, or blue gum tree. He planted two in the Glebe Point road opposite the church. He writes that the plantings "would improve the health of the city, and they are an ornamental tree, and would be an agreeable shade for children to play under". Attached to the letter is a small newspaper clipping about bluegums planted in Europe, and their benefit in preventing disease.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
