(Note: 15/7/87 Ack. City Surveyor. This is an application from F.W. Parsons on behalf of the American International Electric Light Company for permission to erect structures for the purpose of lighting portions of the City with the Electric Light. The accompanying sketch shews that the structure will be of timber, the base in the shape of an equilateral trinagle whose side will be 16 feet, the height will be 100 feet and fitted at the top with 6 "arc" Electric Lights of 2000 nominal candle power each. The powers of the Council to grant permission for such work should first be determined having regard to the materials proposed to be used and the size of structure. By granting the application the Council will not be involved in any expenditure and will be enabled to determine whether the project will be of benefit to the city.
