(Note: Town Clerk: JH; 12/11/88. Mr Howell for report; 12/11/88. 12/11/88 Ack. I have the honor to report in accordance with your instructions that I have made enquries into the matter as furnished by Mr Byrnes in a note of date 9th Novr wherein he complains of Shaw (the man in charge) not permitting him to come into the Market on the date named. I have no means of ascertaining anything only through Shaw, and he states positively that Mr Byrnes had free access to the Market on that day, and went out and returned as often as he thought fit. The last time that he returned it wanted 25 minutes to 3 P.M. Shaw say's he told him if he had anything to do to his stall, or wanted to remove anything to come inside and do it, but he could not open the gates any more. He came inside, and after remaining about ten minutes left again without doing or removing anything. I have no cause to disbelieve Shaw as my instructions to him before leaving the Market were to allow stallholders to come inside as usual.
