(Note: 23/6/93 Ack. City Surveyor. This is a letter from Messrs EC Erbsloch and Coy dated 22nd June ulto: offering to supply at certain prices street name plates designated "new kind of patent enamelled plates". It is very desirable to obtian street name plates for the City, new arrivals from time to time complaining of the absence of these fixtures. The offer is made to supply zinc plates (heavy weights) at eight shillings (8/-) and six shillinsg and nine (6/9) each, and tin plates (light weights) at seven shillings and nine pence (7/9) and six shillings and sixpence (6/6), accordingly as "Street" or the abbreviations "St" be used. Before closing with this firm I think it would be better if the Council invite tenders for supply, when a lower price may possibly be quoted. Do this: WPM.
