Matthew Charlton, Lavender Bay. He had constructed a drain some years ago to drain the cellars and back premises of his property known as Charlton Hotel, Wharf St, into Darling Harbour. Mr Roberston and the late Mr Sinclair have drained their properties into it, and he receives a small compensation. The Corporation had also made two connections into it, but he has noticed another connection from the sheep pens, lately erected on a piece of land near his hotel. He is worrying that the drain will will choke up and flood his property. There is a notation by F Bell, City Engineer that the drain from the sheep pen runs over the top of Charlton's drain.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
