Thomas J Bown, Superintendent Fire Brigade, requesting that the Town Clerk be instructed to furnish him with authority and instructions to use the Hydrants now being fixed in Sydney in all cases when fire breaks out near enough to render them available. Edward Bell, City Engineer, is asked to report and states there is no objection to the use of the Hydrants for fire purposes so far as they can be made available but it was distinctly understood when they were purchased that they were rather small for fires though well adapted to water streets.
