James Murphy reporting the hardship he has suffered as a result of the assessment of £130 per annum for a soapery on his wharf in Liverpool Street. The soapery was removed early last year by Council officers and he requests that a portion of the assessment be remitted. Edward Long, City Treasurer states that full justice would be done on this matter in the form requested by Mr Murphy. The Mayor to deal with this matter 8/8/1861. The City Treasurer to take the rates for the cottage that remains on the grounds.
