Report on special notice (and at instigation of Ald Kippax) that Tramlines Dept sweeps black dirt and mud from its lines in Elizabet & Crown Sts to the side of the roadway, to become a quagmire in the wet and windblown in the dry. Several complaints and remonstrances to the Tram Authorities have received little or no attention. The public erroneously thinks it the fault of the City Scavengers, when the Tramway Sweepers duty is to remove it. R W Richards, City Surveyor: Suggest in light of report that the Government be at once communicated with the remove forthwith the nuisances complained of.
