(Note: Re his property in Gloucester St. This is a letter from Mr Alfred Whetton dated the 18th September /88 re the alignment of Gloucester Street as relating to his property in said street. The Kerb & Gutter is being laid in accordance with the alignment determined by Special Act of Parliament during the year 1878. If the deviation applied for is made it practically conveys a certain area of land to the applicant and as a consequence [if the width of street be preserved] the Council must acquire a corresponding area on the northern side. Further I am advised by the City Solicitor that the Council have not power to depart from what is set down in a Act of Parliament.
