(Note: City Surveyor. This is a letter from the Superintendent of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (Mr Wm D Bear) dated the 3rd instant requesting that iron Tram plates over gutter in front of Fire Station Castlereagh Street be allowed to remain. I have conferred with the City Solicitor upon this matter who is of the opinion that the Council will be liable for any damage or accident that may occur in consequence of the existence of the said Tram plates. Therefore I would recommend that the removal of the plates be enforced by the Council in this as in other instances as they are obstructions and a danger to traffic: RWR;16/10/88.
