A long and detailed report about a disturbance in the Department of the City Architect George McRae. C W Richards, a subordinate in the Department became upset when he saw Mr J D Pattison seated in the draughtman's room. He brought in his brother R W Richards, the City Surveyor, who also used insulting language to Pattison and McRae, and sent for Mears, a special constable to remove Pattison. Burdekin gives a very strong reprimand to R W Richards, and he dispenses with the services of C W Richards. Pattison produced testimonials from W F Gaunt, chemist; J B Barlow, architect to whom he was articled; Robert Richards of the Riverstone Meat Works Darling Harbour; Robert A Miller of 72 Clarence Street; A Ballantine, jeweller of Princes St; John Starkey and Dr Howison of Phillip St.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
