(Note: For City Surveyor's report: HJD/10/6/92. Mr Paton's report forwarded for information: 23/6/92. From a tracing of the original subdivision plan dated 1852 shews this Street laid out as "Botany Street". From an old map in this office dated 1854 the Street in question is shewn thereon as "Maiden Lane". There is nothing definite in this office to shew when the Street was altered to its present name of Marshall Street, according to the City Council's Business Paper of 25th April 1862 it was known as "Maiden Lane: EBP;23/6/92.
