Street on the right beside the bank is Barrack Street with David Jones on the right corner at 349 George Street. Opposite David Jones at number 1 Martin Place is the General Post Office with the tower and clock facing onto Martin Place. Next building on the right at number 3 is the Commonwealth Bank. Tall white building on the right at the end of Martin Place is Wentworth Court at 62-66 Elizabeth Street and 157 Phillip Street. On the left at 48-56 Martin Place is the Government Savings Bank of NSW and the Rural Bank. On the right is King Street passing Saint James Church and through Queens Square and then curving around to Prince Alfred Road and passing the Registrars Building opposite Hyde Park. The tall white building at the centre left is the Hotel Metropole at 56-58 Hunter Street. Cars are parked along the centre of Martin Place which was originally Martin Lane and ran from George Street to Pitt Street until widened in 1892 and became Martin Place. From Pitt Street to Castlereagh Street it was originally Moore Street and was renamed Martin Place in 1921.
