Next building on the right at number 3 is the Commonwealth Bank. At the far end on the left at 48-56 Martin Place is the Government Savings Bank of NSW and the Rural Bank. The World War One Sydney Cenotaph, which was built in 1927, is in the centre opposite the GPO clock tower. Cars and fruit barrows are along either side and street lamps are located along the centre of Martin Place which was originally Martin Lane and ran from George Street to Pitt Street until widened in 1892 and became Martin Place.
