Smart drawing attention to the drain running across George Street and under his premises at the corner of George and Sussex Streets which is insufficient for the purpose of carrying off the waters from the South part of the City resulting in his premises being flooded and otherwise injured. Unless the Council take measures to remedy the matter by 1st January next Mr Smart will close the present drain and prevent the course of the water through his premises. Referred to the Sewerage Committee 17/10/1861. Stand over one week and referred for reports of City Surveyor & Solicitor 9/1/1862.
