There was a report in the Herald this morning that there was a deficiency of water in Elizabeth Street at the recent fire and there was an absence of marks indicating the position of fire plugs. This is incorrect. The real cause is that the firemen do not sufficiently acquaint themselves with the details until a fire occurs, whereas the Insurance Brigade make themselves familiar with the plugs and have no difficulty in finding them.
