Wm Moore, 154 Elizabeth Street. Complains about the state of the footpath on this section of Elizabeth Street. There is a notation from A C Mountain, City Surveyor that the problem is caused by the houses being so high above the footway level that they have banks of earth and steps encroaching on the footway. He recommends that Council insist on their removal. There is an attached memo from R R Lyall, Inspector of Pavements, to the the City Surveyor, that the footway has not been dealt with owing to the uncertain nature of the alterations to the tramway now being carried out by the Railway Department. He also asks that the City Surveyor look at No 142, a brick house built on earth, 8 feet above the level of the footway.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
