I wish to erect 4 shops in Regent St and 3 houses in Queen St, Phillip Ward, on the site of Messrs Hume & Pegrum's Late Cordial Manufactory. Mr McRae has approved the shops but refused the houses as that street is too narrow. Architect, Ambrose Thornley has let tenders for houses and shops, and I understand that Council proposes to to purchase Mr Downs properties which block the street opposite the proposed house. I request in these circumstances that you consider this case. Note: City Surveyor: Council has issued instruction that land necessary to be resumed be valued.
