Unique IDA-00444664SeriesLetters Received from the Colonial Secretary, 1842-1859Date27th February 1850FormatVolume - HardcoverDescriptionLetter from Colonial Secretary advising that, following Surveyor General's Report on the Corporation's request that the portion of the Lachlan Swamp and adjacent grounds proposed to be Granted may be extended further Southward and Westward: 1) approval has been given for the 340 acres now applied for to be Granted to the Corporation on the understanding that a Right of Thoroughfare be reserved for the public; 2) Surveyor General recommends further Addition to the Grant of the partly alienated Land at the Head of the Swamp towards the East of the Works [within the yellow line in the accompanying tracing]; 3) in the absence of any advice of measures required for resumption by the Government of alienated allotments, the Corporation must take Responsibility for Protecting the Water from any nuisances arising on those private properties; 4) as the Public Recreation Reserve will include all the land, not already alienated, considered by Surveyor General requisite for Preservation of the Water, it is Presumed that this object will be accomplished as fully as if it were included in the Grant to the Corporation.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
