Unique IDA-00444881SeriesLetters Received from the Colonial Secretary, 1842-1859Date9th March 1854FormatVolume - HardcoverDescriptionLetter from Colonial Secretary on the subject of the Loan to be raised for the Water Supply and Sewerage of the City of Sydney under the Acts 17 Victoria Nos 34 and 35 advising that, in view of Objections from the Managing Trustee at the Savings Bank of New South Wales to the Terms of the Debentures proposed to be issued for the money borrowed from the Bank, in which no definite period is fixed giving to the Holder the option of demanding payment from the Government, it has been intimated to the Managing Trustee that there will be no objection so to Qualify the Terms of the Debentures that the sums represented shall not be payable for the term of five years certain but shall be payable at any time therafter upon three months notice being given to Government by the Holders. This modification is to be restricted to the first £20,000 to be borrowed - namely £10,000 for the Water Supply and the like sum for the Sewerage - and in negotiating any further instalments of the entire loans contemplated for these purposes the Government may revise the conditions now sanctioned.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
