Unique IDA-00444747SeriesLetters Received from the Colonial Secretary, 1842-1859Date18th October 1851FormatVolume - HardcoverDescriptionLetter from Colonial Secretary acknowledging Council's letter of 9th Instant, referring to former correspondence relating to Preparation of the Deed of Grant for the Site of the Town Hall and expressing the Mayor's Surprise at both the Apparent Discourtesy exhibited in the Lack of Reply and the Extraordinary Delay which has taken place in Issuing of the Grant, and referring the Mayor to Colonial Secretary's letter of 13th Instant, advising that the Deed had been forwarded for Registration, and explaining that the reply to Council's former communication was deferred until the Deed had been so Executed and transmitted for Registration and Delivery; to this effect it is considered that the Mayor's Complaint of want of courtesy or delay on the Government's part is entirely groundless.
