Note: 11/5/82 City Engineer probable. A report on the cost to answer the purpose therein described: ?WS. 15/5/82 infd. John Lucas disposal of sewage. I fail to gather from Mr Lucas's letter in what way the use of this pump, however efficient can effect a saving to this Council, as the Council at present is permitted to discharge all the City Sewerage into the Bays without intervention of any machinery. When the intercepting sewer is made and in operation, it is proposed to pump all sewage flowing from all levels below 30ft about HWM into it, but for that purpose, no other than force pumps will be effective. If Mr Lucas is proposing to substitute a system of conveying the whole sewage of the City out to sea in punts and to dispense with the Bondi outfall sewer, his proper course would be to submit his scheme to the Engineers appointed to carry out that scheme Any scheme adopted by the Council, while it might free the harbor from pollution would involve the Council in a heavy expense without affording a return: JTJ; 12/6/82.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
