Unique IDA-01198792SeriesLetters Sent, 1842-1900Date17th May 1844Date qualifierexactFormatVolume - Letterpress CopybookDescriptionAcknowledgement of the reciept of a letter received on 15 May, which enclosed another letter from the Auditor General regarding a corrected statement of account for Police purposes during 1843 to the ammount of 362 pounds 7 shillings and 6 pence instead of 450 pounds 5 shillings and 9 pence farthing. He is direct by the Mayor to inform that while he has no power to sanction payment of the sums objected to, he will bring the matter before the Council who will no doubt waive the objection to the disputed funds in order to finalise settlement of the account for 1843..
